THE CONCEPT:
This striking landscape photograph captures the dramatic rock formations and vibrant desert hues of Capitol Reef National Park in Utah, a hidden gem of the American Southwest. Taken in the heart of Cathedral Valley, the image showcases the park’s iconic jagged cliffs glowing in rich shades of orange, red, and gold, with boulders tumbling down the side of the tall mountain.
THE STORY:
My husband and I travel full-time in our 45-foot motorhome (we have no other house), and when he said he wanted to “go west” I was so excited to get to Utah and see The Big 5 National Parks! And we did! We spent about 6 weeks in Utah and went to every park. Capitol Reef – where this image was taken – was by far my favorite of all the parks. My husband liked Arches National Park the best – I guess we don’t have to agree LOL!! I love this image for it’s beautiful colors and for the boulders tumbling down the side of the tall mountain – it gives a sense of movement to the image.
